The exhibition of paintings on glass by Valeria Z. Benáčková is our tribute to the artist who for almost five decades has been creating for us her unique and original art. Inspired by history, folk art tradition and old glass painting technology, she presents an unlimited repertoire of topics. It includes many rural customs related to major festive days of the year, but also topics reflecting old crafts and rural life in general. In one part of her work, the author records poetic, fantastical stories, taking place in nature in the atmosphere filled with magic and enchantment. All her work is characterized by a constant search for new ideas spiritually linked to old traditions, but at the same time it transcend them creating new forms and contents.

As the artist lives in Prague for many years where she also exhibits her art, the topics of her paintings include her humble tribute to the city and its historical corners. They almost always portray folksy characters that could still be encountered on various occasions on the Charles Bridge in Prague. The topics of her recent paintings on glass pay homage to Bratislava and its characteristic, especially architectural, specificities. Valeria Benáčková endows her pictures not only with enjoyable, vibrant colour range, but also with delicacy and tenderness - the features that fully define her as a woman
