Folded universe
Ema Stoličná
Our interviewee, a young German designer and artist, Jule Waibel, told us all about her passion for folding and pleating various materials: felt, leather, plastics, even pineapple leaves’ fibres. When working with felt, she uses paper forms, between which she inserts the material in question. Putting the whole thing into a vaporising apparatus, the material is then subjected to hot vapor that enables for permanent folds or pleats. Her folded felt interior items are introduced in this article.
