Winter-term projects at the Wood dpt.
by Roman Hrčka
This year’s winter term projects at the department of wood design and shaping headed by academic sculptor Marián Huba concentrated on kitchen and interior accessories. Third year students (under the educational guidance of Dušan Rychtárik and Roman Hrčka) were assigned with a task to design and make a utility kitchen item of an own choice. Students had a freedom of choice to make various design products for a kitchen. Fourth year students (under the educational guidance of Marián Huba and Peter Jakab) were assigned a task to design and make furniture accessories for temporary storage of clothes (such as a standing coat-hanger, clothes-hanger, wall hanger etc). The assignment was defined to focus on the innovative and creative design and good quality craftwork, meeting the functional, practical and sanitary criteria. Counting with prospective mass production, the assignment was to make a product easy to be produced in large series.
