Messages left in ceramics
Comments on the ceramics of Marika Klastová
by Zuzana Labudová
Portfolio of Marika Klastová (the AFAD in Bratislava, painting, mentored by Prof. Želibský, graduated in 1979) includes various fine arts disciplines such as ceramics, painting and drawing. When her new creative period started in 2000, she has prioritised ceramic art as it is an art discipline allowing more freedom for experimenting with colours and shapes. Testing new technologies and procedures is predominantly performed by working with glaze and earth colour and utilising transparency, layering, flowing, mingling or removing of colours. She makes her artworks by hand-shaping, moulding and shaping of details. The artist prefers a bowl-like shape in her artwork.
