Creativity without borders
by Mária Fulková
Students of the studio of textile design of the AFAD in Bratislava participated in an interesting international project. A symposium for the European academies of art and design was held between 19 and 25 May 2008 at Usedom - an island in the Baltic Sea. The island is located on the border between Germany and Poland. The location was used to emphasize the theme and title of the symposium - Borderline. During four days, students made installations from textile that had been generously provided by members of non-profit organisation Rooms for free and the Society of textile manufacturers of the north-east Germany. Students were invited to apply for a job in the companies organised in the above society. Students of the studio of textile design of the AFAD arranged their massive installations into a charming old military dock.
