by Viera Kleinová, Beáta Gerbócová
An exhibition presenting works of students inspired by crafts, traditional textile techniques and materials made between 2005 and 2008 was organised in the ÚĽUV Design Studio. Mária Fulková has been the head of the AFAD´s textile design studio since 2004. Main objective of the studio is to provide future designers with comprehensive education and training. The studio focuses on cross-discipline overlapping – they use special materials and technologies, students are encouraged to provoke interactions between traditional crafts and current trends. The studio participates in an international project - Rooms for free – seeking support for young textile designers. The exhibition included several examples of actual themes and types of work. Draperies inspired by blueprints were the most numerous group.
