Made in Germany
by Ľubica Pavlovičová
From the beginning of 2007, the aim of the Satellite exhibition hall administered by the Slovak Design Centre is to introduce current trends in graphic, industrial and author-specific design. Made in Germany was the latest exhibition organised in the premises of the Satellite. Seven graduates and students of textile and fashion design at the Arts and Design University in Halle – Burg Giebichenstein presented their works. The university currently attended by cca. 1000 students enjoy top-quality technical equipment and students may do experiments with advanced methods used in the industrial processing of materials. In addition, they may learn long-forgotten manual techniques. All exhibited works were looking to find the purpose of textile creation in “simple” artistic expression, employing traditionally German sense for detail and technical excellence.
