Lubica Hustá: To find art, go to nature
Artists have always been aware of the natural environment. One of the initiatives that encourage the implementation of artists' work in the countryside in Slovakia is the Osrblie International Art Symposium. Its tenth annual meeting took place this summer. The project's initiator is academic painter Dušan Búril. The organizers' ambition is to allow a meeting of Slovak and foreign artists of various age categories whose symposium work revitalizes the uncared for natural places in Slovak mountain valleys in the surroundings of Osrblie village. So far, artists from the USA, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Hungary, Austria and the Czech Republic have participated. Their aim is to preserve the biosphere in the local biotope. Because of this they closely cooperate with local forestry and hydro management engineers and conservationists.
