ÚĽUV Design Studio open
The Centre of Folk Art Production in Bratislava has mainly presented itself through its own network of shops with folk art products. However, in autumn 2000 it opened a new, specialized facility – a sales and exhibition gallery called ÚĽUV Design Studio. The idea behind the creation of this gallery was formulated in 1994. The main task of the studio is to provide a place for the work of designers, reflecting the inspiration of the domestic craft tradition, and to show how the verified values of folk culture can become a part of our everyday life today. Currently, mainly young designers have a place here to present original work inspired by traditional values. In addition, ÚĽUV’s endeavour is to turn the designers’ attention to creating patterns for mass production that would be suitable for implementation by producers – craftsmen.
