Starting in 2000, ÚĽUV have organized a biennial competition supporting and promoting traditional crafts blended with contemporary design and provided young designers, craftsmen and artists with the opportunity to present their designs.

The designs are required to be creative interpretations of traditional folk arts and to comply with the requirements of contemporary design.


In 2008 divided organisators competition entries into two sections:

In the Section A (professionals, university students) there was five categories:

designs from Metal, Wood, Textil, Ceramics and the Free category.

In the Section B (secondary schools students ) – one Free categorie.

The competition catalogue presents the best of the 2008 Rings in Water. All winning and shortlisted designs are displayed in the ÚĽUV Gallery until 14 February 2009.
