SLOVAK FOLK CRAFTS AND PRODUCTION

More than 100 craftsmen will introduce traditional crafts and production from Slovakia: cooperage, tinkering, blacksmithing, painting on glass, bobbin lace, knitting wool, felting, wood carving, weaving, embroidery by crooked needle, making shepherd’s dishes, herding sticks and whips, production of chiselling wood, musical instruments, wrought jewellery, cast brass bells, knives, axes, ceramics, costume parts, shingles, leather, wax, textile, wooden toys, demonstrations and decorating Easter eggs and gingerbread
"Wandering for crafts" - an interactive quiz competition for children

CULTURAL PROGRAM

Interviews with craftsmen, "Tribute to Masters" - presentation of craftsmen with the title of Master ÚĽUV 2012, interviews accompanied by humorous folk stories narrated in dialects and performances of folk groups

Performances of folk ensembles, folk music bands, instrumentalists, folk groups and dance ensembles, dance schools for children and adults, gala - presentation of awards for the title Master ÚĽUV 2013 (Saturday), fashion shows, competitions

DESIGN ZONE

Closer look at different forms understanding traditions by contemporary, young designers (presentation pyrography and turnings, exhibition “nakolene / makeshift” - students from the Department of Design STU BA)

Presentation of the core activities of certain departments of the institution (Museum of Folk Art and Crafts, Publishing ÚĽUV, Regional Craft Centres of ÚĽUV, ÚĽUV Library, cooperation with foreign countries), upcoming programs and events, selling of magazines and publications, information kiosk, Reading Room (Radnička coffee) cup of coffee with a book from the Library ÚĽUV a discussion with author, lecturer, craftsman.

Demonstrations of bobbin lace makers from different Slovak clubs

BLACKSMITH ISLAND

Blacksmith workshops where experienced blacksmiths will introduce this traditional craft

CREATIVE WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN

Craft activities for children 4 to 15 years under the supervision of qualified and experienced lecturers, creation of objects and further exploring of natural materials and its specifics as well as technologies of pottery making, clay modelling, bobbin lace, felting, tinkering, painting on glass and bread baking

KIDS ZONE

Rest area for children - wooden carousel hand-operated, wooden stilts, swing

The festival is organized under the auspices of the Minister of Culture of the Slovak Republic Marek Maďarič, the Mayor of The Capital of the Slovak Republic Bratislava Milan Ftáčnik and the Mayor of The City District Bratislava – Stare Mesto Tatiana Rosová, and it is organized by cooperation with The Ministry of Culture of he Slovak Republic, The Capital of the Slovak Republic Bratislava, The City District of Bratislava – Staré Mesto and The Bratislava Culture and Information Centre.
