Craftsmen Days ÚĽUV

Craftsmen Days ÚĽUV 2022

Date: 3 - 4 September 2022 (Saturday-Sunday) 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Location: Hviezdoslav Square in Bratislava

The 32nd edition of the largest festival of traditional crafts „Craftsmen Days ÚĽUV 2022“ will take place on 3 - 4 September 2022 on Hviezdoslav Square, Rybné Square and Panská Street in front of Bibiana in Bratislava's Old Town.

The main theme of this year's festival is wood and, within it, the Kyjatice Toy, recently included in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Slovakia. Hviezdoslav Square will come alive with a fair of unique handicraft products and demonstrations of traditional craft techniques by more than a hundred of the best craftsmen from all over Slovakia.

The popular ÚĽUV School of Crafts (situated in front of Bibiana on Panská Street) is ready for children from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, where children will be able to make their own handmade craft products from clay, wire, textiles, wood or by painting on glass. This area will also include a relaxation and play area where young and old can play together with games made of wood and be entertained on both days at 3:30 pm by the traditional street puppet show „Gašparko and the Magic Box“.

We also invite you to the Gazebo on Hviezdoslav Square, where a rich cultural programme awaits you. Various folklore groups, instrumentalists, as well as the people behind the ÚĽUV brand will perform here.

The festival atmosphere will be completed by traditional Slovak cuisine. The event is part of the Bratislava Cultural Summer and the festival is under the auspices of the Mayor of the Bratislava - Old Town Zuzana Aufrichtová.

Invitation of the Director General of ÚĽUV Eva Ševčíková: „Craftsmen Days ÚĽUV 2022 proves the meaningfulness of our institution's efforts in preserving and further developing traditional crafts and folk art production. We look forward to meeting the public in person in the company of the best masters of traditional crafts who continue to bring the heritage of our ancestors closer to the present generations in a natural, living form."
